Get Started with eLearning (Blackboard Vista)

Request an eLearning Section

  1. Request an eLearning section through TAMU eLearning Tools (Health Science Center users, use TAMHSC eLearning Tools).
  2. Sign in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click Section Management and follow the steps from there.
  • Verify that you have selected the correct semester checkbox before you submit a request
  • eLearning section loads are processed a week before a semester starts
  • Once a semester has started, eLearning sections are loaded within two hours after submitting a request
  • eLearning sections are loaded throughout the semester and reflect enrollment changes in SIMS (and in the forthcoming Compass student information system)

Note: If you are assigned to teach a section before a semester starts and you cannot find your course listed in eLearning Tools, contact your departmental SIMS administrator and request to add your name to a 13A in SIMS as a WebCT Designer (WE). You will be able to request your eLearning section through eLearning Tools by the next business day.

Sign in to eLearning

  1. Go to the eLearning Site and click TAMU (NetID) (Health Science Center users, click Health Science Center (NetID)).
  2. Sign in with your NetID and password.

Start Your eLearning Section

You can start adding content to your eLearning section in one of three ways:
  • Create a template and develop your content before a section is loaded, then associate that template to your course; a how-to guide with step-by-step instructions for Creating and Associating Templates (PDF, 299 KB, 11 pages) is available
  • Assign an existing template to your section once the section is loaded; a how-to guide with step-by-step instructions for Assigning a Template to a Section (PDF, 258 KB, 3 pages) is available
  • Click Start a Blank Course after choosing your section if you do not already have a template

Add a TA, Designer, and/or Co-Instructor to an eLearning Section

  1. Request to add the user(s) through TAMU eLearning Tools (Health Science Center users, use TAMHSC eLearning Tools).
  2. Sign in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click Member Management.
  4. Enter either the NetID or UIN information for the user(s) you want to add.
  5. Select the role(s) you want to assign to the user(s).
