Course Assessment Tool

The Course Assessment Tool is a teaching checklist for self assessment and peer review of online courses. For the purposes of using this tool, online courses can be structured and taught completely online or as hybrid courses (a combination of face-to-face and online class sessions).

In collaboration with the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Department of Teaching, Learning & Culture, we have developed a checklist-type tool to assist instructors in designing and developing online courses. The primary purpose of the Course Assessment Tool is to help instructors focus on instructional-design topics they should consider when creating and maintaining online courses. Additionally, instructors can use the tool to not only evaluate their courses as they develop them but to also generate a formative evaluation once their courses have been developed, either through self assessment or through peer review.
